Manchester United are stepping up talks with Atletico Madrid over striker Fernando Torres.
After Spain's World Cup elimination against France, United are now accelerating negotiations for Torres and are willing to include Ruud van Nistelrooy in their offer.
United have two offers in mind, a straight cash bid of 25 million pounds, or a 20 million pounds offer plus Van Nistelrooy.
The one stumbling block stalling negotiations is the Atletico board's fears over how the fans will react. Directors know they won't get a higher price for Torres, but are still to come up with a strategy of how to break the news to their passionate support.
